Grassroots is a nonprofit located next to Atholton High School, and can be considered one of the gateways to many other nonprofits in Howard County. They operate as both a homeless shelter and a crisis intervention center with a 24/7 hotline, so naturally they need volunteers to keep everything up and running.

HC DrugFree
HC DrugFree is a nonprofit dedicated to helping Howard County by providing resources and education on how to combat, prevent, and recover from substance abuse/misuse. They run periodical “Take-Back Day” drives in order to collect unneeded prescription medicine, which helps avoid and/or stop substance abuse/misuse.

The Roving Radish
The Roving Radish is a nonprofit that sells Howard County citizens healthy, affordable meals. Because many low-income individuals and families struggle with nutritious diets, the Roving Radish provides a delivery service that includes healthy meal kits and is delivered once a week. They need help in their kitchen preparing these meal kits.

Howard County Recreation & Parks Department

The Community Ecology Institute is designed to help people connect with nature through hands-on educational experiences. At Freetown Farm, their 6.4-acre organic farm in Columbia, they collaborate with individuals, families, schools, and community organizations to create a place where people can learn how they can lead happier, healthier, more connected, and sustainable lives.

Food on the 15th
Food on the 15th was created to help seniors who are financially unstable be able to eat. It is a monthly effort that involves gathering, sorting, packaging, and delivering the food. They host food drives for the elderly and they deliver food to seniors on the 15th of every month for seniors who are on a fixed income.

Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels enable people to live independently at home by providing them with nutritious
food/meals, personal contact, and related services. Each day 27 Meals on Wheels Vans hit the road to deliver more than just a meal. Meals on Wheels helps throughout Baltimore City as well as Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George’s county.

STEM Festival was designed to give students, families, and minorities the opportunity to learn about STEM. Many of the people who participate do not have as many opportunities to learn about STEM as others and the STEM Festival gives them that opportunity.

Bryanna’s Love
Bryanna’s Love was created in honor of Bryanna Kitchen, who was diagnosed with Early T-cell Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ETP-ALL) only 3 weeks after her 9th birthday. Bryanna’s Love provides stuffed animals and blankets to about 1400 children battling cancer and their siblings.
